1/35 Tamiya Sherman & Tamiya Pazner IV

Gallery Article by Douglas Conrady on Feb 27 2012

Here is the famous Sherman and a Panzer IV Ausf H. The Sherman needs no introduction. The Panzer IV was a smaller tank compared to the Panther or Tiger. Both tanks sported a 75 mm gun. Also, both tanks were equally matched on the field, which is why I have them together.

These two models are the oldest models I've still got. I built the Panzer first way back in the late 1990s. The Sherman followed a year or so later. I've used ALOT of glue since then. Both are Tamiya kits, so NO issues there. Both were built out of the box, mostly because it when I was young and didn't know about aftermarket parts. However, I don't know if I would've added any.

In fact, the Panzer was my FIRST Tamiya kit. Given to me by a friend and the proprietor of a hobby store that went out of business. When I first test fitted a few parts...... I was hooked! Never had I seen the quality... I marveled (well, ok drooled) for days over the engineering. This was also my first go at airbrushing. I didn't get a test kit or practice on scraps.... I just went after it and never looked back. Oh the memories.

The Sherman was done before I learned about a gloss coat over flat finish for decal application. A trick I learned a few years ago from ARC. So... the decals silvered.

That's about all I can remember about either kit.... both were great fun builds.

Any comments or questions are always welcomed. If wanted, more photos are available upon request.

Thanks for looking and don't throw rotten tomatoes!
